Using AttendSure with Zoom

How to add, use, and remove the app.

AttendSure supports organisations running online sessions in Zoom meetings they host. It shows the session in Live View, follows each participant’s camera on/off status, can send Presence Checks asking a participant to confirm they are present, and produces a session record you can review and export. From that record you can issue an attendance certificate to a participant.

AttendSure never records or stores meeting video, audio, screen shares, files or transcripts, and does not read or store general meeting chat content. Live video shown to the person monitoring (the Zoom window, or Live View on Teams and Google Meet) is displayed live and never kept. Zoom messaging is used only to deliver private reminders and Presence Check messages to a named participant.

1. Adding AttendSure (connecting Zoom)

  1. Go to www.attendsure.net and create an account, or sign in.
  2. Open Settings → Zoom connection and choose Connect Zoom.
  3. You’ll be taken to Zoom’s consent screen. Review the requested permissions and select Allow.
  4. You’ll return to AttendSure, and Settings will show “Connected as <your Zoom account>”. Your organisation is now ready to monitor its own meetings.
Permissions requested.

AttendSure requests read access to your basic profile, a short-lived on-behalf-of token so a staff member’s monitoring client can join meetings hosted on your account alongside them, and your Zoom access key (ZAK) so the client can join as you when you choose Monitor for me. It requests no access to meeting media.

2. Using AttendSure

  1. On the Connect to a meeting screen, enter the Meeting ID and passcode of a meeting hosted on your connected Zoom account, then choose Start Monitoring.
  2. AttendSure runs in your own browser tab using Zoom’s Meeting SDK, and each time you start you choose how that tab joins:
    • I am already in the meeting - join the meeting yourself first. The tab joins alongside you under the display name you choose on the connect screen (Camera Monitor by default). Zoom admits it only while you are there, so monitoring stops if you leave.
    • Monitor for me - I am not joining - the tab joins under your own Zoom account, so you do not need to attend. Do not also join the meeting yourself with the same Zoom account: Zoom allows one sign-in per person, so one of the two would be signed out.
Either way the tab is visible in the participant list like any other attendee, and it must stay open for monitoring to continue. No separate server-side service of ours joins your meeting. You see the session in Live View with every participant’s camera status beside it.
  3. When a camera stays off past your chosen threshold, that participant is flagged and an alert is logged. When the camera comes back on, the flag clears. A private reminder can be sent automatically.
  4. Send a Presence Check to one participant or to everyone. Each one arrives as a private Zoom message with a single link; the participant confirms with one button, and the reply - or the absence of one inside the response window - is recorded.
  5. Use Pause for a break to suspend monitoring during breaks (countdowns freeze, no alerts fire), and Resume to continue. You can also send the trainer a private break link: from their phone they can start, extend or end a break and report a technical issue. It shows the session’s state only, never who has a camera off.
  6. Choose End Monitoring to finish. AttendSure produces a session record you can review and export as Excel or CSV.
  7. Optionally, issue an attendance certificate to a participant from that session record. A certificate states the participant’s name, the session title and date, how long it ran, the camera-off time recorded against them and the limit that applied, and it carries a verification link. That link opens a page with no sign-in, so anyone holding it can check the certificate - which is what makes it useful to show an employer or a professional body, and what makes it worth telling participants about. You can email the link to a participant, replace it (which stops the old link working) or withdraw the certificate at any time.

3. Removing AttendSure

You can disconnect at any time. This revokes AttendSure’s access to your Zoom account.

  1. In AttendSure: open Settings → Zoom connection and choose Disconnect. This deletes the stored authorisation for your own AttendSure user. Zoom connections are held per person, so a colleague who has connected their own Zoom account still has theirs; each of them disconnects separately.
  2. In Zoom (to fully revoke): sign in at marketplace.zoom.us, go to Manage → Added Apps (or zoom.us → Settings → Installed Apps), find AttendSure, and select Remove.

To delete your AttendSure organisation and its records entirely, you no longer need to ask us. An owner can open Account in AttendSure and choose Delete this organisation; you will be asked for your password and to type the organisation’s name to confirm. That cancels any subscription and permanently removes the organisation’s accounts, sessions, participant records, certificates and Zoom connections. It cannot be undone. If you would rather we did it, email us and we will.

Data & privacy

AttendSure stores your account details, an encrypted copy of the Zoom authorisation token, and per-session records: display names as shown in Zoom, camera on/off changes with timestamps, alerts raised, reminders sent, and Presence Checks issued, confirmed, missed or exempt. Where you issue attendance certificates (step 7 above), it also stores each certificate: the participant’s name, the session title, date and duration, the camera-off time recorded, your organisation and the issuer’s name, title and signature image, and - if you email a certificate to a participant - the address you sent it to.

Session records are deleted automatically once they pass the retention period your organisation sets. Certificates are not: an issued certificate is a document someone may be holding a copy of, so it is kept until the organisation is deleted. Withdrawing one marks it invalid - it is not erased, so the verification link can say it was withdrawn. See our Privacy Policy for full detail, including the verification link, what it discloses and to whom, and how to exercise your data rights.
